Taylor Mayer
Hey! My name is Taylor Mayer.
I was born and raised in Sacramento, California. I started my CrossFit journey in August 2019 after my sister, who had been doing CrossFit for three years, finally convinced my dad and me to try a class at her gym. I'll be honest, I didn't have an athletic bone in my body. I found the gym environment intimidating, and I was a nervous noodle walking into my first workout. Growing up, I tried all kinds of sports and activities, but I never stuck with any of them for more than a few months. Everything changed the moment I started CrossFit. I was immediately hooked. CrossFit has given me so much more than just fitness, it has completely changed my life.
A little bit about me….
I'm a recent college graduate from Sacramento State, having earned my bachelor's degree in Exercise Science this past May. (I have a feeling CrossFit may have had a little influence on the major I chose). Three days after graduation, I packed my bags and moved to Boise to live with my childhood best friend. I've been loving my time in Boise, I can see why all the Californians flock here. What was originally supposed to be a fun summer getaway has turned into something much more permanent. I was recently accepted into Boise State University's master's program in Kinesiology and was fortunate enough to receive a scholarship. I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue my education while growing both personally and professionally. Moving to a new state has taught me so much about taking risks, stepping outside of my comfort zone, and embracing change. While change can definitely be stressful at times, it's also been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I'm excited to see where this next chapter takes me :)
I’ll be coaching 5 AM and 6:05 AM classes Mondays and Wednesdays! You better be there (or else hehehe). I love the motto CrossFit Casual is implementing by "keeping it casual," and that's exactly how I approach both coaching and my own training. I focus on showing up, listening to my body, and doing what feels right each day instead of following a rigid routine. My goal is to help you work hard, have fun, and leave class feeling stronger than when you walked in.
I can't wait to meet everyone and be a part of your CrossFit journey!
